Workshops

ICCS-2020 invites eminent academicians, scientists, researchers, industrialists, technocrats, government representatives, social visionaries and experts from all strata of society to work together for more meaningful and professional outcome. The ICCS team plans to hold workshops/special sessions on various areas of expertise, in any of the tracks based on related theme.

The Workshops/Special Sessions will be chaired by experts from different fields. The presentation of the papers will be scheduled ONLINE on first day (December 27, 2020) of the conference.

Cybercrime in the field of game-studies

Abstract

The digital games sector, and in particular the online and mobile games segment, is growing steadily. Even now, during the Covid 19 crisis, the digital games industry is perceived as one of the few winning industries. But as always, when it comes to people and huge monetary values, the door is wide open for fraudulent activities. The short track of Game!Crime? wants to discuss what kind of crimes and fraudulent activities occur in digital game environments. How can the industry (game developers, publishers, etc.) react and last but not least how can players be protected? Furthermore, how can new technological approaches such as AI or Blockchain help to protect stakeholders?

Prof Alexiei Dingli is a Professor of AI at the University of Malta. He has been conducting research and working in the field of AI for more than two decades, assisting different companies to implement AI solutions. His work has been rated World Class by international experts and he won several local and international awards (such as those by the European Space Agency, the World Intellectual Property Organization and the United Nations to name a few). He has published several peer-reviewed publications and formed part of the Malta.AI task-force which was set up by the Maltese government, aimed at making Malta one of the top AI countries in the world.

Alexander Pfeiffer is recipient of a Max Kade Fellowship awarded by the Austrian Academy of Science to work with The MIT Education Arcade. His research focus as a postdoctoral fellow is on blockchain technologies and their impact to society. Before joining MIT, Alexander headed the center for applied game studies at Danube-University Krems, Austria, for eight years. He is also co-founder of the Austrian-based tech start-up Picapipe GmbH (Winner of the Austrian Blockchain Award 2020) and the Malta-based B & P Emerging Technologies Consultancy Lab Ltd. He holds a doctorate and a social and economic sciences degree (mag.rer.soc.oec) from the Vienna University of Economics and Business, a Master of Arts from Danube-University Krems, and an Executive MBA from Alaska Pacific University, Anchorage. Following his lifelong learning credo, he is currently PhD Candidate in the field of Artificial Intelligence at the University of Malta. Dr. Thomas-Gabriel Rüdiger
Dr. Thomas-Gabriel Rudiger
Institute for Police Science at the Brandenburg Police University, Germany
Dr. Thomas-Gabriel Rudiger is a specialist in the field of cyber criminology and assistant director of the Institute for Police Science at the Brandenburg Police University (Hochschule der Polizei des Landes Brandenburg). His research focuses on digital crimes and interaction risks in social media, digital police work and the understanding of new trends in the digital space. Further areas are youth protection and the significance of media education in the area of digital crime prevention.

Papers reporting original* and unpublished research results pertaining to the related topics are solicited. *(papers with plagiarism more than 30% will be outrightly rejected)

  • Full paper manuscripts must be in English of up to 10 pages as per  format.

For authors convenience, Springer has summarized in the Author Guidelines document how a proceedings paper should be structured, how elements (headings, figures, references) should be formatted using our predefined styles, etc. The submission Guidelines can be downloaded from the given link containing the complete sets of instructions and templates for the different text preparation systems.

Springer has developed LaTeX style files and Word templates to help prepare paper. LaTeX is the preferred format for texts containing several formulae, but Word templates are also available on the following link:

Submissions should NOT include the author(s), affiliation(s), e-mail address(es), and postal address(es) in the manuscripts. Papers will be selected based on their originality, timeliness, significance, relevance, and clarity of presentation. Paper submission implies the intent of at least one of the authors to register and present the paper, if accepted.
